Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) is an NGO working tirelessly in advocating for ending violence against women and promoting gender equality in Malaysia. This time through this lockdown, they have come together to initiate a cause to help the girls from marginalised communities get access to basic health and hygiene products.
We spoke to Keshika Subbarao, the ambassador for WAO to walk us through the whole fundraising programme they’re working on! They are aiming at helping a total of 230 girls from marginalised communities. These self-care packages include products and items that will help maintain their health and hygiene in order for them to live a healthier life during the lockdown.
But how will this cause get all the limelight it deserves? WAO came up with a video challenge that focuses on 2 main issues:
Donations raised from this video challenge will be used to deliver self-care packages to 230 girls aged between 12 to 17 years old from marginalised communities in Malaysia, who are currently experiencing difficulties in maintaining their health and hygiene during the MCO period.
Write a special message indicating your hope for the underprivileged girls in Malaysia, grab a stuffed toy and choose any simple workout you want to do – 20x! Upload the video of your challenge workout on social media – and while you’re at it you help to spread the word about the challenge and fundraising for a great cause.
